Setting Higher Standards

California has raised the bar in setting greenhouse and environmental goals that will take a significant and deliberate action to meet them. Senate Bill 350 established clean energy policy goals for the electric sector, requiring that 50 percent of electricity to be generated from renewable resources and a doubling of energy efficiency savings in existing buildings by 2030. Senate Bill requires a reduction of emissions to at least 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2030.

Our Solution

We believe the best solution to meeting California’s stringent standards is switching from fossil fuels to electricity. Our plan is tailored to Southern California, where 40 percent of the goods entering the nation are moved through the region’s ports and over its highways. The plan, recently filed with the California Public Utilities Commission, aims to increase electrification of cars, buses, medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks and industrial vehicles and equipment. The plan would call for major funding for medium and heavy-duty vehicle charging infrastructure. Our plan is designed to benefit all SCE customers with a particular focus on areas that are disproportionately affected by pollution and economic hardship, often located along transportation corridors.

Short-Term Plan

To complement the larger plan, we have several smaller, short-term projects. These projects include:

-Customer rebates for residential electric vehicle charging station installation
-Vehicle charging infrastructure for electric transit buses
-Port electrification projects
-Installation of urban Direct Current (DC) Fast Charger Clusters
-Bonus rewards to rideshare or taxi drivers who use electric vehicles
